Sponsor a Seeing Eye Dog pup

If you are a dog lover at heart but your lifestyle won't let you take on a new or second pet, then you'll love the sound of our 1800 Puppys sponsorship program.

This allows you to make a big difference for a person who is blind by helping to fund the costly training process each Seeing Eye Dog pup must undertake.

Put simply, sponsor a puppy and you will essentially be buying a person who is blind a new set of eyes.

As a valued co-sponsor you will receive updated photographs and letters from your pup every 12 weeks allowing you to stay informed about all its adventures while it learns the necessary skills, disciplines and all 30+ commands its future owner will one day ask.

To sponsor a puppy costs as little as $1 a day (which is tax deductible) and in return, you will get all the joys of watching your pup grow without taking on the added responsibility!

Seeing Eye Dogs (SEDA) do not receive a any govenrment funding and it Costs SEDA $30,000 to train each Seeing Eye Dog, so your contribution really would make all the difference.

Nothing could be more rewarding.  Especially when you know your pup will one day pass the friendship it gave to you, as well as its newfound Seeing Eye Dog skills, onto a person who is blind

Love without the leash

What your sponsorship buys

  1. During the first twelve months in the hands of our Volunteer Puppy Carers, your pup will learn basic obedience, how to walk on the left-hand side, to eat and toilet only on command and to deal with large crowds and noises.

After it has mastered all this, your pup will embark upon six months of intensive training at Seeing Eye Dogs Australia.  Here it will learn to cross roads, judge the height of doorways, find stairs and find a clear, safe path for its handler.

Finally when your pup is a star graduate, we'll match it with its new owner.  Together, your pup and their blind companion will be trained over four weeks so they become accustomed to each other.

Sadly, you won't hear from your pup after this but rest assure, your pup will be giving its new owner a new level of mobility, indpendence and safety for the next ten years before it retires.  And you just never know where you may see this team working in the future!
